COL-CEMCA’s support to Vigyan Vani Community Radio Station recognised

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated Vigyan Vani (88.8 MHz) as a part of Uttarakhand’s Vigyan Setu (Science Bridge) programme at the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (STIP) Symposium on 13 July 2026 at the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), Dehradun.

COL-CEMCA facilitated the establishment of Vigyan Vani by advising UCOST in obtaining the community radio license, station setup, capacity building, and content development. The Chief Minister highlighted the progress of Dehradun Science City and emphasised using sustainable, emerging technologies like AI and biotech to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.The symposium highlighted the importance of grassroots input in policy, recognising COL-CEMCA’s 2022 survey of 25 Community Radio Stations as a key contribution to gathering community feedback on development priorities.

Representing COL-CEMCA, Programme Coordinator, Ms. Monica Sharma met with the Chief Minister. During the event, the Director-General of UCOST suggested that COL-CEMCA and UCOST sign an MoU to formalise future joint programs.
