COL-CEMCA and IIT Bombay Start-up Flourishing Panchkosha to Pilot Institutional Wellbeing Initiative

New Delhi, 23 September 2026

The Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (COL-CEMCA) is collaborating with Panchkosha Wellbeing, a start-up based at HE IIT B Innovation Lab, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, to pilot an evidence-based institutional wellbeing model across selected Open and Dual Mode Institutions in India.

The pilot seeks to assess the wellbeing of students and faculty members through a structured psychometric assessment framework that brings together the Indian Knowledge System of Panchkosha with contemporary wellbeing science and digital technology. The initiative will examine diverse academic, professional and personal contexts of faculty and students, generating institution-level insights into wellbeing strengths, areas requiring attention and opportunities for institutional support.

The initiative will address five dimensions of Panchkosha wellbeing through a series of interactive online workshops and assessments: physical wellbeing and health; energy and vitality; emotional and relational wellbeing; cognitive, learning and value-based wellbeing; and purpose, meaning and fulfilment. The programme will move beyond assessment towards practical engagement, following a structured process of assessment, awareness, experiential learning, intervention and follow-up.

The collaboration will culminate in an aggregate Institutional Wellbeing Report, synthesising findings across participating institutions and identifying key strengths, areas requiring attention, potential intervention priorities and opportunities to strengthen institutional support systems. The pilot is therefore intended not only to understand the wellbeing of learners and educators, but also to translate the findings into practical, evidence-informed interventions that institutions can use to foster a more supportive and holistic educational environment.

The initiative reflects COL-CEMCA’s commitment to supporting educational institutions in adopting innovative, evidence-informed approaches that contribute to the holistic development and wellbeing of learners and educators.
