  • Yoga for well- being through Community Radio Stations

In 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21st June as International Yoga Day. The day aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga. The theme of Yoga Day 2021 was ‘Yoga for well –being”.

CEMCA supported Ministry of AYUSH (MOA), Government of India, in engaging 125 Community  Radio Stations (CRS) of India across the five regions  to promote Yoga. The CRSs were chosen from rural, semi-urban, and urban areas. Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) programme developed by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), was promoted through Community radios.  The aim of this programme is to disseminate the knowledge and practice of Yoga, among the general public, at the national level.

The objective of this campaign through CRS was to reach many community members, especially in remote localities, and create awareness regarding the role of yoga in health and well-being. The course commenced in April 2021 and MDNIY provided You Tube Links to those who enrolled themselves in the course. As per the survey conducted by CEMCA, 18,698 people registered for the CYP Course. On the International day of Yoga, the live broadcast of DD’s yoga programme reached around 12,00,000 listeners as per the information gathered by CRS.

  • Immune India through Community Radio

CEMCA supported Ministry of AYUSH (MOA), Government of India in a campaign Immune India through Community Radio.

For the first time MOA engaged Community Radio Stations (CRS) of India to connect to the community for Immunity Campaign. Community Radios are short range channels which provide information to people living in a locality and influence the communities. The Immunity campaign was implemented in 25 CRS located in rural areas of the country to promote awareness about AYUSH and beneficial effects of building immunity. Through this campaign, more than eighteen lakh community members were reached which belonged to rural, tribal, semi-urban areas in the project site. A survey of more than 13,000 people found that majority were not aware of the AYUSH and the practices. Community recommended more such campaigns from the AYUSH Ministry.
