Workshop on ICT Integrated Teacher Education for DIET Teacher Educators of Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi; 21/11/2014: Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), New Delhi in collaboration with Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Bhopal, a constituent unit of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), an autonomous organization under the MHRD, Govt. of India, organised a Workshop on ICT Integrated Teacher Education for DIET Teacher Educators of Madhya Pradesh from November 15-17, 2014. The objectives of the workshop were: to create awareness and interest among the Elementary Teacher Educators, i.e. DIET faculties, on the use of ICT in their professional activities; to equip the use of ICT in their professional activities; to make the DIET faculties aware of the different resources, including open resources, which they can use in developing learning resources for the curricular transaction; to encourage the DIET teachers to use Web 2.0 tools; to provide hands-on-experience in the use of ICT in learning; and to equip the DIET teachers with the techniques of using ICT for student assessment. The workshop was organised at Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Shyamla Hills, Bhopal. The DIET teacher educators of the state were selected and deputed by Rajya Shiksha Kendra (RSK) – Sate Education Centre, Madhya Pradesh for the workshop. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. O P Sharma, Additional Director, RSK, Madhya Pradesh and Prof. H K Senapaty, Principal, RIE, Bhopal presided over the inaugural ceremony. Prof. Reeta Sharma, Former Dean, RIE, Bhopal was the Guest of Honour of day. Prof. Senapaty in his speech described the importance of ICT in teacher education. He stressed on the integration of technology, pedagogy and content knowledge. Dr. O P Sharma explained the role of RSK in improving the quality of the teacher education in the state. He appreciated the role of CEMCA in providing the assistance in organizing this workshop. Dr. N C Ojha, Asst. Professor, RIE, Bhopal coordinated the workshop. He welcomed the participants and the guests. Dr. Ratnamala Arya, Associate Professor, RIE, Bhopal proposed the vote of thanks.

The workshop was facilitated by G. Mythili, IGNOU, New Delhi and Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, Programme Officer, CEMCA. Participants were exposed to theoretical as well as application basic ICT tools in teaching and learning. Participants received hands-on-experience on curriculum planning, instructional design, content delivery, student assessment, recent trends in online education, use if social media, preparing teaching content using Audio/Podcasts/ Video/Vodcasts.  In the valedictory session, certificates were distributed to the participants by Prof. J. Mandal, RIE, Bhopal.
