Use of Technology and OER for Online Content Development for Better Learning


CEMCA Supporting Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Mysuru for capacity building of their teachers on “Use of Technology and OER for Online Content Development for Better Learning” from 22-26 March 2021. The workshop was inaugurated with the presence of Dr. Madhu Parhar Director, CEMCA; Prof. Vidyashankar S., Vice Chancellor, KSOU; Prof. Lingaraja Gandhi Registrar, KSOU. Mr. Gurumurthy Kasinathan, IT for Change and his team providing training as resource person. Dr Manas Ranjan Panigrahi from CEMCA and Dr. Sumati Ramakrishna Gowda from KSOU is facilitating the five day workshop. 75 Teachers and Staff from KSOU participated in the workshop.

Dr. Madhu Parhar, Director-CEMCA address the gathering through online and discuss the importance of OER and FOSS for better learning. Dr. Vidyashankar S, Vice Chancellor, KSOU gave the presidential address by stating that online education is very important and affirmed that the lecturers and professors have the responsibility to provide quality education to students using technology for sustainable development. In the next five years the education field will undergo a tremendous change and online education will become a part and parcel of society. Many western countries including USA have adopted online education. There is a need for teachers to adapt to this technology to reach out to students and make them understand concepts with ease.

The workshop covered the hands-on practice on various FOSS tools, OER, and tools for evaluation for teaching and learning. During this five day participants worked with technological tools for content creation, collaboration in learning, etc.
