Tutor Training Workshop on Community Radio Technology

New Delhi, 22/06/2014: Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) with its deep engagement in the Community Radio sector has developed a certificate course on community radio technology (CCRT). The course developed with the experts has 9 modules and 12 videos. The basic objective is to craft an environment for creating new technical and vocational skill-based jobs at local level to enhance the technical sustainability of community radio stations in India. CEMCA has entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gauhati University to offer the certificate course in distance learning mode.

The Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) of Gauhati University, Assam has shown interest to launch the Certificate in Community Radio Technology course from August, 2014. Keeping this in mind, CEMCA in collaboration with Gauhati University and BECIL organised a five-day intensive capacity building workshop for the potential tutor-counsellor of CCRT course from 16th June to 20th June, 2014 at Guwahati, India. A total of 37 participants attended the workshop.

Mr. Y.K.Sharma, Mr. Khuswinder Singh Bhatia, Mr. Pankaj Giri and Mr. Raghvendra Singh were the key resource persons from Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL), Noida, UP. Dr. Ankuran Dutta of CEMCA also participated the workshop as a resource person. Prof. Kandarpa Das, Director, IDOL, Gauhati University coordinated this five day intensive workshop for CCRT tutor- counselors.
