Skill/Technical Workshops for participants of Skill Carnival 2021


World Youth Skills Day is celebrated on 15 July every year since 2014. This day highlights the opportunities and challenges that young people face in employment. It is an occasion for young people, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, and public and private sector stakeholders to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment.

This day’s celebration is aligned to UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. CEMCA also acknowledged essence of WYSD2021 and supported Bhartiya Skill Development University (BSDU Jaipur) in celebrating 4 weeks long Skill carnival 2021. CEMCA facilitated 5 skill/technical workshops as part of this carnival.

Skill Carnival festival was inaugurated on occasion of World Yoga Day ie. 21st June 2021. In inauguration function, Chief Guest Dr. Niraj Kumar Pawan (IAS) (Chairman, RSLDC), Dr. Madhu Parhar (Director, CEMCA) & Mr. Saurabh Mishra (Programme Officer, CEMCA), Dr. Susheela Sharma, (Registrar BSDU Jaipur) & Prof. Achintya Choudhury (President, BSDU Jaipur) were present.

Under skill carnival: series of skill competitions, technical/skills workshops & talk shows were conducted. CEMCA facilitated and supported 5 technical/skill workshops namely: Design Thinking, 3D printing & Modelling, creating a Pitch Deck Using the Business Model Canvas, Smart Manufacturing and How to Make a Video Resume. These workshops were conducted by experts from various domains. More than 1300 participants attended these workshops and 854 participants were certified.

On 15th July 2021, Skill Carnival Festival concluded with a talk show on topic: “Skills for Youth Employment in New Normal” which was most appropriate in current context and valuable inputs were given by eminent panellists: Dr. Madhu Parhar, Dr. Neharika Vohra (Vice Chancellor DSEU), Mr. Janaka Jayalath (DDG, TVEC, Sri Lanka), Dr. Achintya Choudhury (President, BSDU) and Mr. Markus Gmeiner (CEO, Ursala Joshi Foundation) emphasised on adoption of new perspective to skill ecosystem
