Second Offering of the MOOC “Introduction to Statistical Analysis (ISA)"

The ISA MOOC is an attempt to help learners use the correct methods for analysis and interpretation of collected data to present the findings of the research. Statistics Analysis also helps to make decisions in real life situation based on data. With this, one can understand a subject clearly and deeply. CEMCA and KISS University designed and developed this MOOC and is offered through MOOCs For Development Platform: https://www.mooc4dev.org/isa2

Sh Bishwaswar Tudu, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti, Government of India inaugurated the launch of MOOC, “Introduction to Statistical Analysis (ISA)” as second cycle on 22 November 2021. In his address he highlighted the importance of training and orienting the students, teachers and field functionaries through such types of short term courses. He offered his support and cooperation of all kind for similar initiatives.

Guest of Honour; Prof Akra Das Mohapatra, Vice Chancellor, Odisha State Open University addressing the participants explained the importance of statistics in research and development and the need to train and orient the people about effective and efficient use of statistics. He focused on fundamental clarity of concept and better understanding of students and research scholars about research methodology and role of statistics to make the study more meaningful and productive. Guest of Honour Sh Banchhanidhi Pani,, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Surat, Gujarat also addressed on this occasion. He described the “importance of statistics for administrators and policy makers in taking informed decisions. It is the need of the time to make use of data and its meaningful analysis for better implementations of plans, programmes and taking new initiatives”. He focused that its implication is multidisciplinary and everyone in any field of life should have basic knowledge of statistics and its appliation.

Prof Madhu Parhar Director CEMCA appreciated the efforts of the MOOC Team. She emphasised that the implementation should be meticulous for providing better opportunities to all registered learners. She stated that statistical analysis as a concept is important for Ph. D scholars in the context of Research Methodology . Not only the research scholars, even the faculty members who have to publish research articles

should opt for such courses to have a conceptual clarity of the basic content and strengthen their research base. Prof Deepak Behera, Vice Chancellor, KISS addressed on the occasion and thanked CEMCA- COL for providing this opportunity to collaborate with KISS. Prof Behera also appreciated the efforts of MOOC Team in designing, development and implementation of this course

Dr. Manoj Kumar Dash from IGNOU and Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi from CEMCA designed and developed the ISA MOOC. Around 1700 people around the globe are enrolled in this MOOC which is offered jointly by KISS University Bhubaneswar and CEMCA. The second cycle will start from 25 November 2021.
