Open Educational Resource policy and implementation strategies for PSSOU Chhattisgarh


New Delhi, 14 April 2017: Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur (C.G.) in collaboration with Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), New Delhi organised a two days’ workshop on Understanding of Open Educational Resource policies and implementation strategies from April 12-13, 2017. A total of 34 participants including Vice chancellor, Registrar, Finance Officer, Exam controller, 12 Faculties, 1 Computer Programmer,  15 Program coordinators and 2 Regional Coordinators of Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur (C.G.), participated in this workshop.

While inaugurating the workshop Prof. B. G. Singh, Vice Chancellor, Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University Chhattisgarh, emphasized the need for improving the quality of higher education in Distance Education. He appreciated the role of CEMCA in providing the assistance in organizing this workshop. Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, Program officer, CEMCA enlightened the participants on the goals of the workshop to understand the Open Educational Resources (OER) and open educational resource policy for the university. This workshop was coordinated by Mr. Reshamlal Pradhan, HOD, Department of Computer Science and Dr. Pushkar Dubey, HOD, Department of Management.

This two-day workshop involved understanding of OER Quality, understanding of Open Licenses and Attributes, hands on practice for searching OERs and browsing for OER Repository, discussion on proposed OER policy of Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Open University Chhattisgarh, examining the learning outcomes of the OER-based eLearning course; exploring the concepts on OER, Open Source, Open Learning and Open Access in line with the learning outcomes, and moderating discussion in an online learning environment. Convener Mr. Reshamlal Pradhan presented the proposed OER policy for the institution. Participants of the workshop explored strategic and operational plan for implementing OER policy in institution to provide better learning opportunity for the learners. Participants were exposed to theoretical as well as practical application of the OER through hands-on-practice sessions.
