Online Workshop on Virtual Labs for Faculty of HELP University, Malaysia


HELP University, Malaysia organised an online workshop on virtual labs in collaboration with the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) on 5-6 April 2021.

Prof. Datuk Dr. Paul Chan, Founder, President and Vice Chancellor of HELP University welcomed this initiative to enhance awareness about virtual labs and to facilitate the use and integration of virtual labs in teaching and learning. Prof Madhu Parhar, Director, CEMCA spoke of the relevance of virtual labs for effective science education and the need for improved access and use of virtual labs.

The technical sessions were conducted by Mr. Saneesh from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. He presented an overview of virtual labs and demonstrated online experiments for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Ways to enhance teaching and learning using virtual labs were discussed and research findings on the impact of virtual labs were shared.

Faculty members from multiple departments of HELP University including Matriculation Centre, A-levels, Graduate School, Centre for Learning and Teaching, and from diverse disciplines including Sciences, Education, Psychology, and ICT actively participated in the programme.

Mr. Kok Cheang Loh, Director of the Centre for Learning & Teaching at HELP University appreciated the workshop and encouraged faulty members to continue to access and use virtual labs. Prof. Andy Liew, Pro-Vice Chancellor, HELP University emphasised the need for more such collaborations in future.
