Online workshop on Understanding Neurodiversity in collaboration with CEMCA on June 4th, 2021.


The School of Education at Netaji Subhas Open University, Kolkata organised an online workshop on Understanding Neurodiversity in collaboration with CEMCA on 4 June 2021. During the inaugural address, Prof. Madhu Parhar, Director, CEMCA, explained the genesis of the term “neurodiversity” and the need to recognize and address diversities among learners. More than 75 special educators, teachers, teacher educators, school leadership, faculty and students from universities, psychologists, communication therapists, and professionals from non-governmental organisations across the country attended this programme.

The workshop was conducted by Ms. Manobina Chakraborty, an inclusive education expert and a certified professional for Special Educational Needs. She presented an overview of neurodiversity; and discussed how to understand and address the needs of neurodivergent learners. The presentation was interspersed with concise video demonstrations, along with active participant interaction through the audio-video and chat mode to share queries, thoughts, and experiences. The workshop delivery and relevance was appreciated by Prof. Sumanta Chattaraj, School of Education, NSOU.
