Online Capacity Building of Teaching Staff on Development of Online Courses at RGU


CEMCA in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Arunachal Pradesh organised a three-day Online Workshop for Capacity Building on Online Course Development for Academic staff of the North-Eastern States of India from July 6th to 8th, 2020. In inaugural session Prof. Madhu Parhar, Director, Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), Madhu Parhar, lauded that the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Arunachal Pradesh, the first dual-mode university across the nation, for initiating this capacity-building training programme for teachers.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Saket Kushwaha in his valedictory address said that, online learning has become the need of the hour and RGU is committed to take all necessary steps to adapt to the new normal. He suggested that RGU and CEMCA should jointly start relevant courses to facilitate the new methodologies of teaching-learning.

Prof. Parhar was speaking at the valedictory session of a three-day ‘Online capacity building of teaching staff on development of online courses’ organised by CEMCA in collaboration with RGU.

Prof. Ashan Riddi, Director of RGU’s Institute of Distant Education (IDE) and Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, SPO of CEMCA spoke on the occasion. Ms. Moyir Riba, Faculty at IDE, was the coordinator of the programme. The training programme, open to teachers for learning online teaching methods, was specially designed for teachers from the north-eastern region of the nation. It had 317 applicants from which 104 were selected following selection criteria. The 104 (65 Male and 39 Female) participants were given intensive synchronised and asynchronized training with assignments and tasks. Dr. Nisha Singh of IGNOU’s Centre for Online Education was the resource person for the training.
