Implementation of Blended Learning at MGCU, Bihar, India


Within the mandate of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, University Grants Commission (UGC) India has developed blended learning guideline for higher education. Guidelines will provide better learning opportunities to the learners. For better implementation of blended learning in higher education institutions, Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia, New Delhi in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU), Bihar conducted capacity building programme for higher education teachers from various Universities of Bihar in implementation of blended learning in a project mode.

In this regard, CEMCA organised first Capacity Building Programme for Teachers and Research Scholars of MGCU on “Implementation of Blended Learning” during 8-12 October 2021. The programme was inaugurated on the 8th October by Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, MGCU. Referring to the NEP 2020, the Vice Chancellor said that “teachers should fulfil social responsibilities and contribute to the nation building”. The capacity building workshop covered : ICT tools in teaching learning; Introduction to LMS: Google Classroom/Moodle; Design & development of lessons for blended learning; Interactive Presentation Tools & e-Assessment Tools; OER, and Techno-Pedagogy. 230 (152 Male and 78 Female) teachers and scholars participated in the Online training. All participants, were engaged with various online activities supported by the resource persons. As follow up, the resource persons and project team will engage with all participants to provide continuous online support for another one month for preparation of blended learning plans including implementation strategy. The Programme was coordinated by Prof. Asheesh Srivastava, Head and Dean, School of Education, MGCU and Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi from CEMCA.
