Engage Me Workshop in GSSS Bapoli, Haryana


New Delhi, October 27th, 2016: CEMCA conducted a 3-day intensive training workshop for vocational trainers at GSSS, Bapoli from October 24th to October 26th 2016. As part of the workshop the trainers conducted various activities focusing on imparting Generic Employability skills to the school children of the Govt. Senior Secondary School in Bapoli, Haryana. More than 80 students benefitted out of the workshop conducted and the trainers were trained in the technique that has been developed by Worktree, an education charity based in Milton Keynes, UK, since 1992. 

This is the fourth of a series of 26 workshops planned as a second level intervention for implementing the ABLE-CEMCA model for training the vocational trainers to integrate Activity Based Learning in their regular teaching-learning style. This programme is aimed at Building Capacity of vocational trainers who impart training to school children in the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade of government schools, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Skill Development (IISD) in Gurgaon.

The occasion was also graced by members of the Panchayat, who highly appreciated the initiative and requested that it be conducted again in the school for the benefit of the students. This workshop served as a tool for mainstreaming Vocational Training in regular school education. The students improved their communication skills and overcame their fear and hesitation in a very short span. The workshop on day 1 was conducted by Ms Sanjogita Mishra, Programme Officer, Skills CEMCA assisted by Ms Anupriya Khare as an expert resource person. On day 2 and 3 of the workshop, Ms. Meeta Gautam, a volunteer with CEMCA, assisted as an expert resource person, while the sessions were conducted by the trainers Sombir Bhardwaj, Deepak Rohilla, Deepak Jala and Ajay Kumar, who were undergoing the training. There was a systematic feedback process followed in order to make the trainers expert in the technique.

The participating trainers are now all set to run the Engage Me workshop in other GSSS in Haryana.
