Engage Me Workshop in GSSS Bada Gudha, Sirsa, Haryana


New Delhi, November 7th, 2016: CEMCA conducted a 3-day intensive training workshop for vocational trainers at GSSS, Bada Gudha, Sirsa from November 2nd to November 4th 2016. As part of the workshop the trainers conducted various activities focusing on imparting Generic Employability skills to the school children of the Govt. Senior Secondary School in Bada Gudha, Haryana. More than 100 students benefitted out of the workshop conducted and the trainers were trained in the technique that have been developed by Worktree, an education charity based in Milton Keynes, UK, since 1992. 

 

This is the fourth of a series of 26 workshops planned as a second level intervention for implementing the ABLE-CEMCA model of getting the vocational trainers integrate Activity Based Learning in their regular teaching-learning style. This programme is aimed at Building Capacity of vocational trainers who impart training to school children in the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade of government schools, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Skill Development (IISD) in Gurgaon.

 

The occasion was also graced by members of the Panchayat, the chairman of the Block Samiti and principals from nearby schools, who appreciated the initiative and asked that it be conducted again in the school and nearby schools as well, for the benefit of the students. This workshop served as a tool for mainstreaming Vocational Training in regular school education and brought about a sense of unity and pride amongst the students, trainers and teachers of the Govt. School. The event was covered by Sirsa Kesari, a local division of Punjab Kesari and was highly appreciated by school teachers and participants. The principal of the school, Mr. Baldev Singh was very welcoming and attended the workshop on all three days, enlightening the students with his words and motivating them to participate in the workshop with enthusiasm.

 

The workshop on day 1 was conducted by Ms. Meeta Sharma Skill trainer for ABLE-CEMCA assisted by Ms Anupriya Khare as an expert resource person. On day 2 and 3 of the workshop, Ms Anupriya Khare, along with programme coordinator Mr Amandeep Vats, and Ms. Payal Chib assisted as expert resource persons, while the sessions were conducted by the trainers Manoj Kumar, Chandresh, Jagdish  and Hari Ram Verma undergoing the training. There was a systematic feedback process followed in order to make the trainers expert in the technique.

 

The participating trainers are now all set to run the Engage Me workshop in other GSSS in Haryana. There are currently nine more workshops scheduled to happen in the months of October, November and December, 2016.
