Development of MOOCs on SWAYAM Platform for Faculty of KSOU


CEMCA supporting Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) to design and develop online courses and offer through institutional LMS and SWAYAM. For this CEMCA organised a Faculty Development Programme from 15-17 June 2021on Development of MOOCs on SWAYAM Platform for 45 teachers of KSOU. The focus of this FDP is to learn four quadrant approaches and will be develop a proposal for online course offer through SWAYAM. Professor Madhu Parhar, Director CEMCA and Professor S Vidyashankar, Vice Chancellor KSOU grace the occasion inaugurating of the programme. Dr. G Mythili from IGNOU is the resource person to this three day workshop. Dr. Sumati Ramakrishna Gowda from KSOU and Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi from CEMCA facilitating and coordinating the programme.

Prof. Madhu Parhar instigated the workshop with a session on India Initiative towards Online Education Guidelines of MHRD for SWAYAM and MOOCs: CEMCA Initiatives. During this session Awareness was built among the participants on requirement of the online mode of education and also motivated sharing the CEMCA/COL involvement towards development of MOOCs. Further, Dr. Mythili conducted the three day workshop as lead resource person, covering the areas: Introduction to SWAYAM; Select of course for SWAYAM; e-Tutorial (SWAYAM Quadrant I); e- Content (SWAYAM Quadrant II); Discussion Forum (SWAYAM Quadrant III); Assessment (SWAYAM Quadrant IV); Learning Management System.

During the workshop, participants selected their courses to be developed for the online education and SWAYAM. They also prepared the proposal for the same as per the SWAYAM guidelines which will be submitted to the appropriate National Coordinator. Participants also record their introductory video for their course as this is the first step for the submission of proposal for SWAYAM course.
