CEMCA supported GMRVF in conducting placement linked skill training in Andhra Pradesh


Covid pandemic hit worst to marginalized communities in India and best way to support them is generating employment and source of income for these families. To promote youth employment, education and training aligned to SDG 8, CEMCA extended its support to GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF) in conducting 4 months residential placement linked skill training during April-September 2021 for 60 participants in their Nagaram district Skill centre, Andhra Pradesh.

All 60 youth participants belonged to marginalized community and were trained in batches of 20 each in 3 job roles namely: Assistant Electricians, Home Health Aid and Solar Panel Installation Technician. Training was conducted in blended mode with theoretical session in online mode during lockdown in Andhra Pradesh and practical session in GMRVF training centre after lockdown was eased.

Post training 51 participants out of 60 enrolled were placed with decent salaries in different companies across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana considering preferences of job locations of various aspirants.
