CEMCA Community Radio Facilitation Centre License Process Workshop at Radio FTII, Pune, 5-7 June, 2013

A three day workshop on Community Radio (CR) licence procedure facilitation was held at Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune in collaboration with the FTII CRS housed at the institute.  Participants comprised FTII staff, volunteers and interns at Radio FTII, a team from Vidyavani CRS, Pune University, and one representative from Vasundhara Vahini CRS, Baramati, who had undergone an internship programme at CCFC last year.  Over three days participants were familiarised with CR policy guidelines, principles and licencing procedures. Besides learning about how to guide new applicants, participants were also appraised of the empanelment procedures required to receive government sponsorships and advertisements, that would enable them to assist operational CRS.  Professor Biswajeet Das from Centre for Culture, Media and Governance, Jamia Milia Islamia, as CCFC project evaluator and observer at the workshop enriched the discussions with his observations.  The workshop ended on a positive and enthusiastic note when potential applicants from three institutions across Maharashtra attended the workshop on the last day. Participants using their recently acquired skills oriented them towards the CR policy provisions and licence procedures.
