360-Degree Virtual Reality (VR) Teaching and Learning training at Ravenshaw University


CEMCA and Ravenshaw University, Cuttack jointly organised a three day hands-on workshop on 360 degree Virtual Reality (VR) Teaching and Learning from 12-14 June 2021. 42 faculty members and Research Scholars of Department of Education, Ravenshaw University participated the workshop and developed VR contents using 360 degree VR platform which was designed and developed by CEMCA with the support of Dr. Kaushal Kumar Bhagat and his team from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. Prof. Sanjay Kumar Nayak, Vice Chancellor, Ravenshaw University and Prof. Madhu Parhar, Director, CEMCA along with Dr. Sudarshan Mishra, Head Dept. of Education, Ravenshaw University grace the occasion. Inaugurating the programme Prof. Nayak Vice Chancellor of the University lauded that this is the appropriate time for Ravenshaw University joining hands with CEMCA, as UGC Govt. of India come out with the Blended Learning guidelines and this training will enhance the capacity of our teachers to develop VR materials and use for better learning. Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi from CEMCA facilitating and coordinating the programme.

Day one Dr. Kaushal Kumar Bhagat and his team described the Use of VR in teaching and learning, Concept of 360-degree VR educator and demonstrated 360-degree VR content/Course creation and platform structure. Participants also practiced the same during the workshop and after the workshop.

Day two all participants engaged to Design and develop a content/course using 360-degree VR platform. Also engaged with Resource Persons through WhatsApp group. Participants prepared one lessons/topic using VR image and video on their expertise area and shared their work with resource persons and got significant feedback.

In the last day of workshop the few sample contents were presented by the Participants and reflection by the Resource Persons. After Presentation of the content the close interaction happened in Q&A and Discussion. In the last session reflections and feedback received by the participants for further improvement of platform.
