Research

CEMCA promotes research on use of information and communication technologies through appropriate funding, training and capacity building of researchers. Research proposals are invited from interested scholars and researchers within the scope of CEMCA's mandate throughout the year for consideration. The institution of the principal investigator should duly forward the proposal. Proposals received by June 15 and December 15 every year are evaluated by experts and necessary instructions are given to the principal investigator by September 15 and March 15 respectively. Normally for a project funded by CEMCA, the principal investigator is contracted to submit the report on time. Regular monitoring of the project is done through agreed schedule in the contract.

Currently the thrust areas of research at CEMCA include, but not limited to:

  • Use of Multimedia by distance learners
  • Learning from multimedia
  • Use of ICT for development and training
  • Internet and World Wide Web
  • ICT for people with disabilities
  • Digital divide
  • Gender issues in technology use in education
